This means it should produce as little waste as possible. The construction method is ecological and sustainable. In the hostel, a ton of plastic waste is installed in so-called “Ecobricks”, plus around 1,000 bamboo poles. In the long term, the friends want to inspire their guests and also the Filipinos to keep their “ecological footprint” as low as possible.

Project Wings: these are Basti – the project manager, Marc – the head and thinker of the quartet, Leonie – the creative soul and Erich – the doer. In March 2019, the four friends founded the organization "Project Wings" with the aim of supporting the Bukit Lawang region of Sumatra in addressing ecological and social problems. The idea of building the world's largest village out of plastic waste in Sumatra was born. The future village should consist of several buildings, have its own trash bench, a sports field and employ a ranger patrol, because the Indonesian rainforest is considered the most species-rich in the world! Some celebrities such as the reggae band Culcha Candela or former national soccer player René Adler also support the project as patrons.
